Previously a full-day conference, in 2017 the Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC) is launching the redesigned Music University (MU) Series to incorporate new and diverse ways to engage local musicians in professional development opportunities. Participants benefit from engaging with national and local industry professionals who provide tips and insight into the business to help local musicians build a successful music career in the Midwest.
The innovative MU Series 2017 offers a hands-on MU Workshop at GDP Music Festival (April 29), a summer MU Discussion with a nationally touring artist at 80/35 (July 8), and a fall MU Panel at Little BIG Fest (November 3) all led by musicians and industry experts from across the country actively working in the music business. Tied to popular DMMC festivals, the MU Series serves local and regional artists and introduces area musicians to ideas and topics relevant to the regional and national music industry. Each component of the MU Series is designed to help local artists identify their goals and provide an opportunity for the artistic and professional growth of all participants.
MU is organized by the nonprofit Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC). Learn more about the DMMC at desmoinesmc.com. MU is made possible with the support of Trudy Hurd, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Bravo, Iowa Arts Council, and local business partners.
